About the event
6-week programme starting Monday 15th August 2022
Muslim Wellbeing Ōtautahi invites young people to take a journey exploring the history of Islamic Art, while creating your own art piece along the way.
Art is the symbolic representation of any community and this workshop will enable young people to understand Islamic geometric compositions and patterns, by learning techniques and styles that have been used over centuries in different parts of the Islamic world. The workshops will also briefly explore the history and journey of Islamic art through the Muslim world.
The workshops will be facilitated by our local Muslim artist Sudi Dargipour.
Suitable for those aged 16-23 years. Spaces are limited - maximum 10 participants.
