About the event
Muslim Wellbeing Ōtautahi in collaboration with Fireside Stories Series are excited to launch the second series of Fireside Stories.
Knowledge is the key. The more we know about one another the less we will fear one another and realise that we share so much in common.
Members of Christchurch’s Muslim community tell exotic and inspiring stories about their lives before and after coming to New Zealand. Each night will focus on a particular geographical area. And not one, but several speakers from that general area will tell stories and show us pictures of their life growing up in their countries of birth. Our guest speakers - men and women, will give us fascinating insights into the culture and society they left behind.
Speakers: Yemen, Nigeria, Ethiopia & Eritrea, Sudan, Somalia, Syria, Egypt, Malaysia & Indonesia, East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania), India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Morocco, Tunisia & Algeria. Saudi Arabia, Jordan & Palestine.
Dates: The first Sunday of every month from September to December 2022 (Four sessions: Sep 4, Oct 2, Nov 6, Dec 4)
Time: Shortly after sunset (between Magrib & Isha prayer)
Venue: TBC
Cost: By donation/koha. Light refreshments will be served.
