Salaam, my name is Dena Makarious.
I was born in Egypt and spent the first eight years of my life living in Cairo until my family, and I moved to Ōtautahi, Aoteoroa, where I have spent most
of my life.
I am a registered Intern Psychologist, currently in the final year of my Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology at the University of Canterbury. I have completed my master's thesis, which focused on examining the link between PTSD, memory, dissociation, and anxiety.
I am passionate about mental health and working with people and I feel honoured to be in a position where I can listen to people share their stories and understand what shapes their identities.
I am blessed to be part of such a passionate and hardworking team that is embedded within a beautiful Kaupapa Māori service.
